[RSN #5] GNOME Release Status Update... Your Recommended Dosage!

RSN #5: GNOME Release Status Update... Your Recommended Dosage!
===============================================================

What do we want? DOGFOOD! When do we want it? YESTERDAY!

We're currently in API/ABI and UI freeze, so it's definitely time to dogfood
- less than two months until the 2.2 final release! Every desktop component
is stable enough for daily use - the panel crashes a little bit, but pops
back up in a jiffy anyway. Ah, the wonders of session management...

GNOME 2.1.x ... Everything else, is just a toy!

Meanwhile, we've thrown in another snapshot release for next week. Proper
announcement about that coming soon.

--------------------------

  - The bugsquad continues to kick much ass.

  - The bugsquad is still learning, so in some places these lists may not be
as consistent as 2.0 lists were. That's quite fine, I believe, at this
point; every member of the bugsquad is committed to learning more about
the process and about consistency, so finding flaws in these lists is a
    good thing.

  - The 37 worst bugs, more or less. These should at this point be
considered mustfix for 2.2. [This number has increased since the last
RSN, but I think at least partially because of overzealous use of the
    keyword.]

  - High priority 2.1 bugs. This is the candidate pool for 2.2 showstoppers,
and may overlap with the set from the previous link.

  - High priority 2.0 bugs. If these are present in 2.1 they are part of the
candidate pool for 2.2 showstoppers. This may overlap some with the
previous link. [These last two numbers have remained roughly steady over
    the past two weeks.]
