RE: Problem - Gnome Conf under Beta 2

OK, I found a peice of mail where someone had the same missing file.

The mail can be seen at:
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-db-list/1999-December/msg00035.html

The recommendation was to "You need gnome-libs-devel RPM, which contains
this file".

I looked through the source, but couldn't find that tarball, probably
becasue 2.0.1 is ALL devel! If I install an older version of the libs
(assuming I *can*), will this conflict and blow up my desktop in any way?

Subject: Problem - Gnome Conf under Beta 2

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to compile some software that uses a script from Gnome Conf.
Here is an output of my error.

checking for gnomeConf.sh file in /usr/local/lib... not found
configure: error: Could not find the gnomeConf.sh file that is generated by
gnome-libs install

I am trying to determine what this script does, and if the name or the
function of it has changed in Beta 2v1. I see from the Gnome 2 Build order
at http://www.gnome.org/start/2.0/installation.html#buildorder that
something called GConf has been installed . Is this the same
utility/library ?

Any help or new avenues of thought as to where I can redirect my configure
to would be appreciated.

Thanks.
