Help needed e xf2 with gnome2

Hi I am trying to get a working system with XFt2 and gnome2
to this end I have recompiled SRPMS from RH rawhide 
fontconfig
XFT2

and compiled everything from pango upwards against this up to at present
to to gnome-session

When I try to look at launcher properties I get segmentation fault and
nautilus wont start (segfault again)

before I give up on XFt2 has anyone any ideas
