ten maybe-possibly-fairly easy-fix bugs for new hacking volunteers

Hey! So Owen and others asked me to come up with a list of things that
would be easy for first-time gnome hackers to fix, yet would have a high
impact on GNOME. Not all of these may be as easy as they appear at
first, but I think a lot of them would probably be fairly easy patches
for someone looking to help out but a little intimidated by the many
big, complex bugs sitting in bugzilla.

BTW, for those without copies of the code,
http://developer.gnome.org/tools/cvs.html has some good instructions for
getting started with GNOME CVS.

Without further ado:

1) two commands use same keyboard shortcut:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75248

2) possibly slightly more advanced: file type capplet needs to be
converted to instant apply:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76468

3) font capplet isn't HIG compliant. Might not even be valid anymore?
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76411

4) Lots of apps don't have help menus that work; a complete list is
here: http://makeashorterlink.com/?I2E322DA

5) Panel properties needs UI love-
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75975

6) gdialog needs lots of little bits of love; see for example
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71569

7) keynav in logout dialogue is broken:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=77517 [Note that this might
not be all that easy- I'm taking a stab at it ;)

8) It's getting late, so instead of finding three more bugs, I'll end
with this list:

http://makeashorterlink.com/?N3AA239B

These are usability bugs. Most of them are string changes and/or button
location changes. These bugs are almost all very clear and very simple
'change this like this' type bugs, and anything with fairly rudimentary
GTK skills /should/ be able to fix a lot of them.

Hope to see some of you get involved and help us move towards a really,
really good GNOME 2.0 release-

Luis
