I don't know what change caused this, but 0.8.3 is completely broken on
my (Python 2.4) system. For every letter I type in the search box, I see
this error in the console:

BTW: When will $XDG_DATA_DIRS be honored? File Search and Dictionary
Lookup still refuses to load because their .desktop entries aren't
placed in /usr/share/applications (my distro uses /opt/gnome prefixing).
