Rick,

I don't think that's what's going on. I'm also using Debian/Sid (on a
386):

beagled --list-backends
Current available backends:
User:
 - EvolutionDataServer
 - EvolutionMail
 - Thunderbird
 - KMail
 - Files
 - GaimLog
 - IndexingService
 - Tomboy
 - Blam
 - Liferea
 - Akregator
 - KonquerorHistory
 - Kopete
System:
 - applications
 - documentation

Notice the lack of the Debug: '/usr/lib/beagle/Backends' is not a
directory: Nothing loaded from here.

I'd try a clean install (remove beagle with --purge and reinstall, and
remove your .beagle directory).

Cheers,
Carlos
