Google Contacts and Instant Messaging

I was fixing an old patch I found on the list to sinchronize the IM
information from Google Contact. 
While developing, I noticed that Evolution does not have and entry for
Gtalk, Skype, and some newer instant messenger. 
What should I do in this case ?.
Just keep it the way it was, or should I try do convert that do
something else. Or better, try to send a patch to Evolution (who knows,
I never tried, but I know some internals from evolution.
