I don't know if I missed a reply or not, but it looks like no one got
back to you :(

I'm working on OpensyncModule which will allow conduit to use the SyncML
stuff that Opensync use. My current understanding is that there are two
SyncML implementations for opensync and that the Sync4j one will support
syncing over http.

Note i'm not entirely happy about that solution as it probably creates a
dependency on a crap load of other external stuff too.

Depending on how good the SyncML stuff turns out to be I might use it
for network syncing instead of rolling my own protocol. But we'll see
how everything goes before committing to anything on that front.
