Re: syncing facebook

You can get a list of friends quite easily, but its missing contact

(The use case i was specifically targeting is where someone updates
their mob and puts it on fb. Conduit could have so pushed the update to
Evolution/your phone/etc. Maybe for other use cases there is something
in there...).

That's the use case I wanted to go for. The events and notes are pretty standard though, someone invites me to a fb event, I add it to my fb calendar, then its on my evo/phone calendar.

If we could get just notes and calendar added then thats a start, but short of scraping if the API doesn't support it then there are issues that we have to overcome. Maybe joining the developer network would be a good idea to at least push this stuff as it is a cool feature for facebook and conduit alike.

See here for calls and XML samples:

* Getting friends list

* Getting info on a given UID

cool cheers

This is a big shame, the API side of things could be complicated, I
mean retrieving my friends list, then searching for their contact
details. Do you think facebook have included these features in the API?

The trick of course is to get this stuff nicely dealt with before MS
do something similar so I think I'll look into the facebook stuff and
see if its possible. I've got time this weekend so this seems like
something that would be worth a snoop.

There was a blog post that made me want to do facebook contact sync.
Unfortunately (unless they fixed API) it is impossible without screen scraping. That is against TOS and other projects to do it were "cease
and desist-ified".

I don't know what API is like for other features you describe..

I was just wondering if you've got any plans for facebook contact,

This is a feature that would make conduit a killer app for the online
