+I am pleased to announce GHex 42.0, the first stable release of GHex based on
+GTK4!
+
+Despite earlier statements, I have decided to adopt the newer style of
+versioning for the application, to avoid confusion. The application version
+will represent the version of the GNOME platform that is targetted. The
+library, libgtkhex-4, will have a more traditional version numbering scheme,
+which will be documented in the NEWS file with each GHex release.
+
+This release includes libgtkhex 4.0.0
+
+Many people volunteered their time and skills to provide contributions between
+4.beta.1 and now. These contributions have included bugfixes, documentation
+tweaks, and many translation updates, which is greatly appreciated.
+
