<p><sys>PolicyKit</sys> is used for controlling system-wide privileges. It is
a framework, or an application-level toolkit, for centralizing the decision
making process that concerns granting access for non-privileged processes to
 communicate with privileged ones.</p>

<p>A user might prefer a different task in some situations and
<sys>PolicyKit</sys> is the tool which grants the user the right to perform
such a tasks. Among these are the situations when the user wishes to hibernate
and shutdown the computer, manage (Wireless) connections, mount/eject a
 removable media, and so on.</p>
