Hi,
I've just acquired an IPEVO Ziggi HD document camera. It has 2592 x
1944 resolution, and cheese seems to run it fine as a webcam and to scan
documents. Does a pretty good job for the price.
The one nuisance is that there is no control of the autofocus from the
host computer in Linux, so I have to have cheese or something else
running and press a button on the camera, which is a bit awkward and
giggles the camera position. The Windows software (Presenter) has
controls, though interestingly seems to only power the cam to 1600 by
1200. It has a high similarity to cheese. One wonders ...
Using uvcdynctrl I got some feedback that the camera is nonstandard, but
still several pages of info.
If anyone has ideas, I'm willing to poke around and see if I can
discover a way to run the focus and possibly exposure controls. However,
I'm mainly a scientific programmer (R, though I've done my share of
bit-banging and assembler back in the 60s and 70s) so may be a bit
sluggish on coding.
If someone wants me to send info etc., I suggest off-list and we'll
report back. FYI I receive all mailing lists in digest form.
