Yes, this is jpeg only. Imho it still works fine, despite the warning and it is
fixed in never libv4l. I am now wondering why cheese is run with libv4lconvert
preloaded, maybe it works better without for you.

You could try running:
gst-launch-0.10 v4l2src ! xvimagesink
to check the direct capture.

Also I wonder if cheese is a wrapper script that LD_PRELOADS libv4lconvert.so on
your system. Could you check:

file `which cheese`
