I'm new to the list, but discovered cheese and hacked in a multi-shot feature to meet an immediate need I have. It's similar but not quite the same as what has been discussed here before, according to the list archives:
- A "batch count" can be set in gconf which causes cheese to take a configurable number of shots in a row. My implementation modifies the countdown state machine to decrement the batch count and restart the timer if multiple shots need to be taken.
known problems:
- no UI for configuration; I don't know how to use glade in this project
- in fullscreen mode, the countdown bar times out after the first shot
areas for enhancement:
- after taking a set of photos dispatch the whole batch to some program, like a script that calls montage and combines all the images into an old-timey photobooth strip. Currently I run a script in the background that does an inotify wait for new images to show up--ugly but gets the job done, and poof I turn my laptop, webcam, and printer into an instant photobooth for a party.
Does anyone have any interest in the patch?
