Your problen is caused by not using original software but a buggy and dead fork
distributed by Debian.

This is one of many bugs that has been introduced by the Debian people who 
created the cdrtools fork called "cdrkit". Such a problem has never been
present in the original software.

Your problem will disappear if you upgrade to recent original software:
