beast-0.5.1 on Debian Sarge

In order to install beast-0.5.1, I installed in /usr/local the following
packages: atk-1.2.0, fcpackage.2.1, glib-2.2.1, gtk+-2.2.1,
guile-1.6.3, libglade-2.0.1, lignomecanvas-2.3.0, libogg-1.0,
libvorbis-1.0, libxml2-2.5.6, mad-0.14.2b, and pango-1.2.1.

The configure works correctly. Building fails with the following message:
gcc -DG_ENABLE_DEBUG -g -ggdb3 -fno-strict-aliasing -fno-cond-mismatch
