I hit this bug this morning and reported it as
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=774478

I was able to resolve the issue using the patch referenced in the bug
report. To fix it yourself, replace
/Applications/Banshee.app/Contents/MacOS/Banshee with the contents of
http://pastebin.com/USS24H36

You may need to re-install the app and replace that file before opening it
for the first time.

Sadly this wonderful music player seems dead-ish. So many bugs un-addressed.
What a shame.
