[Banshee-List] shuffle issue

The shuffle feature has been working perfectly up until a few days ago. When I open banshee, it has defaulted back to shuffle off. the arrow to activate the drop down menu is not active and i can't choose any other option such as shuffle by song. when i double click a different band to play, it does activate shuffle by song, but once the song is over, it goes right back to shuffle off and begins playing the very first song in my library. This is not shuffle by song. I uninstalled banshee and reinstalled it and it didn't help. I'm running ubuntu studio 13.10. what gives man?
