Currently MTP devices are making Banshee/Rhythmbox crash so I won't be able to test it. I strongly feel this should be a default functionality of Banshee. Thanks.

You get the 2.6.0 source code and do the above modifications (i can also send you the files). Then you launch:
configure
make
sudo make install

On my side i have been obliged to add MCS=/usr/bin/mono-csc    on the configure command
