[Banshee-List] mp3s not uploading to iphone with banshee

just got an iphone 3GS. i am running banshee 2.0 in ubuntu natty narwhal.
banshee detects the iphone and seems to connect just fine. but when i try to
transfer mp3s to the iphone, i get the errror: "the mp3 format is not
supported by the device and no converter was found to convert it"

any thoughts on fixing this? clearly the iphone supports mp3s...
