Hrm. I didn't try deleting the .cache file before, but I just did.
It was many GB in size, which seems terribly wrong, but deleting it
didn't help. Still no ability to start the program.
Any other ideas?

I just had exactly the same problem today using Banshee 1.9.3 from
the unstable repository for Ubuntu. The CPU was at 100% and it was
using so much memory that my computer was completely unresponsive,
after closing Banshee, it wouldn't open for anything.
I got it open again by deleting the banshee-1 folders inside
.config and .cache. I hope that helps... BTW, I'm using Ubuntu
10.10
I just thought it was just a weird behaviour on the unstable
repository, but apparently it's in old versions too

Hi, I'm pretty familiar with Banshee (and I've filed a few bugs), but for some
reason the other day it was gobbling up CPU, so I decided to restart it. Now, I
can't get it to start again.
I've tried the various debug flags, tried disabling gtkrc and dbus, but nothing
has helped or provided any real clues. Failing that, I've deleted the banshee-1
folders in .config and in .gnome2...again to no avail.
When I try to start the program, all I get is a blank screen, and a CPU cranking
at 100%. I'm using banshee 1.8.1.
Any thoughts for debugging or fixing would be much appreciated, cause honestly,
rhythmbox just ain't my thang.
Help?
Mike
