You could create a new user and run as the second users creditials.
Then under Pulse Audio options sink one Banshee instance to the second audio output. (I'm pretty sure you can direct app's audio to different hardware with pulse audio - Not sure how though).

1st, Add user 'preview'
    sudo adduser preview

2nd, Run Banshee as 'preview'
    gksudo -u preview banshee

3rd, Fiddle with Pulse audio to sink banshee outputs to different hardware.
(You may need to install various pulse audio tools.....?)

g'day,
i would like to be able to run two instances of banshee and have them show up as two separate audio devices. this is so i can preview track's through
headphones and run the other instance through a usb sound-card and then
through a PA. i could then use banshee for some light dj-ing.

is this possible or even already possible?
