I have been watching this thread with some interest (though,
admittedly, not reading every word of every post) since I've been
playing with the search capabilities of Banshee. I've not seen much
mention of these capabilities.

I have an ever growing library and typically want to filter for many
reasons. For instance, unless I'm in the right mood, most of the time
my filters include -"janis joplin" & -"Gregorian chants".  ;-)

Since the search capability uses Xesam search language, it makes it
quite easy to make very detailed filters.

I also set up compilations so as a single album art is displayed in
the cover art view.

As always, it's a personal preference and YMMV.
