It's important to note that you can have your own personal repository
with your own branches on gitorious, without Banshee having to have a
semi-official repository on gitorious. You can pull from
git.gnome.org and push your branches to your own personal repo on
gitorious (which a lot of people do).
The only advantage of having a semi-official mirror on gitorious (that
I can think of) is that contributors could experiment with merge
requests and features like that. And also, I guess, having it just as
a simple mirror is fairly useful as well, if git.gnome.org goes down.
