Hello. Thanks for your interest in Banshee. Sorry for the late response.

There are still bugs out there that prevent some songs to be synced. For
example, some time ago I reported a bug[1] which ended up being a Mono's
bug on the Uri class, for which I proposed a patch, and thanks that the
fix got in some branches, now any person that had a song with the "@"
character in its file name, can sync the song successfully.
I'm also lately debugging another bug that I happen to reproduce with
just 1 song of my 1800songs music library. If I remove that song, all
the sync process goes smoothly.
What I mean with all this is that a 50 GB library has a lot of chances
to meet this kind of bugs, but it's with the help of users like you the
only way to find them and fix them. So, please, if you have time, would
you try to spot the bug for us with the following techniques:
1) Try the same sync process you tried, but running banshee from the
console. So, when Banshee freezes, you can go to the console, hit CTRL+C
to kill it, and copy to the clipboard the last debug output you see.
Chances are that in that debug output there's an exception printed that
helps us start determining the cause of the problem.
2) Try finding the offending song(s) that cause the problem by doing a
binary search on your collection. For example, divide your 50 GB in 2
groups of 25GB, and try to sync one of the groups. If group A fails,
divide group A in 2 subgroups again, if group A doesn't fail, divide
group B in 2 subgroups, and so on.
Please keep us posted about the problem! Thanks,
Andres
