So true! I didn't notice.

just marked as FIXED.

I think this was requested before. I also advocate for this feature,
because I see the use of the Genre field as a flawed approach, as it's
like a mono-tag tool and the information is saved on the file (which
shouldn't happen as it's a personal preference, like Ratings and
PlayCounts).
Now that I look in Bugzilla, this may be covered by
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=525690 (look at comment#3
especially).

Not that I know of (but I think Alan was trying to help to anyone
interested in pushing this effort).
