This is working now, although it is still a bit flaky. As far as I know I didn't do anything to make it start working. Occasionally it doesn't see the disc, but if I reload it a couple of times it usually then does.

I just upgraded to ubuntu 10.04 and now banshee does not see mounted cds. Other applications (rhythmbox, etc.) have no problems. I suspect I am missing something really obvious.
