Hi Sandy, I had some other problems so I reset the iPod which meant I had to rebuild the database - and now I can play songs. Beats me, but thank you for responding. -- Larry Sandy Armstrong wrote: On Fri, Sep 4, 2009 at 1:35 PM, Larry<l22h rcn com> wrote:Okay, I'm probably doing something really stupid, but I just don't get what is going on... I have thousands of music files on an external hard drive that I created for my iPod/iTunes in Windows XP. I have since switched to Ubuntu and Banshee and imported all of those music files into Banshee. When I fire up Banshee it lists all of my songs. When I select a song and click "Play" the only thing that happens is that an "X" appears in the leftmost column for the song I selected, and then 4 more "X"s will appear next to the following 4 songs. No sound, just "X"s. Happens every time, no matter which song I try to play. However, if I fire up Nautilus, navigate to those same songs, select one, right-click and select "Open with Banshee" it plays fine. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? In Banshee, right-click any problem track and select Properties. Is the Full Path field correct?
