Ah, it is a core part of my vision, I'm afraid :-)

Like Remuco, though, I am beginning to think that a separate "media
browser" application which browses metadata obtained from D-Bus, and
invokes Banshee to actually do the playback, is the answer. As far as
I can tell, though, playlists are not exposed through the D-Bus API,
and neither are DAAP shares. (Album art is, which is cool.) This
rather breaks my vision :-(
