Hi,
If you look at the buglisting you'll find a featurerequest for that:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=536389
I am planning to get it working the coming months, but being a newbie to
this language, I need a lot of C# learning to do first, so it will take
some time.
It is interesting to see that Amarok, according to you, is using fake
timestamps. The ipodscrobbling function of the opensource LastFM client
is able to read the real timestamps from the ipod internal database as
far as I saw when I studied their code.
Also the "getting date of last song scrobbled to last.fm" part is not
necessary, since the lastfm protocol has a (not publicly documented but
existing) portable device switch that allows scrobbling tracks before
the last scrobbled song timestamp without triggering spam protections.
So, no, I am not planning to go the Amarok way, but it will definitely
be _useful_scrobbling.
Anyway, could you add your comment to the mentioned bug? Would be very
helpful. :)
Greetings,
Peter de Kraker

Hi there,
now that Banshee has reached 1.0, does it support _useful_ scrobbling of
tracks played on my ipod? Useful means the way Amarok does it:
* timestamps on the ipod are ignored, since it's only the last play
* playcount is read
* get date of the last song scrobbled to last.fm (not only via amarok /
banshee but in general)
* fake timestamps of songs played on the ipod and submit as many songs
as possible, meaning as many as fit between the last scrobbling and now
* if a song was played more than once, it will be submitted more than
once
I use my ipod to listen to music if I'm not at home, but I'm using my PC
too. I also use the last.fm flashplayer to discover new music.
Amarok realizes ipod scrobbling pretty good, but it's a qt app and
doesn't look fine.
But anyway .. cool app you made :)
