If you're seeing FSmonitor starting up, it means that you did not  
uninstall your 0.10.x package.  FSmonitor is not shipped with CVS  
anymore.

It's possible - that you just need to wipe out your banshee install  
and then re-install it.  Do this:

remove the 0.10 package using apt (i dont know how, not an Ubuntu user)
rm -rf /usr/lib/banshee (wipe out any stray banshee files)
also wipe /usr/local/lib/banshee if it exists
go back to your cvs install and make install again
