Ok, it works this way. But I dont want to have my own gnome but only my own balsa. So my install scheme tries to install the icons in the root tree. So, I've to do that as root and I don't like to break my system this way.

We meanwhile change the install scheme, moving the balsa-specific stuff into $prefix/share/balsa/hicolor. The additional mime type

I've found that in ./images/Makefile:

BALSA_DATA_PREFIX = /opt/balsa-2.2.6/share/balsa

...

GTK_UPDATE_ICON_CACHE = /usr/bin/gtk-update-icon-cache
HICOLOR_ICON_DIR = /usr/share/icons/hicolor

Which is not prefixed...

icons are still installed in HICOLOR_ICON_DIR=`$PKG_CONFIG --variable=prefix gtk+-2.0`/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/mimetypes, though, so they are available for other applications, too.

Ok, so I edit that by hand before doing make install...

Cheers, Albrecht.
