There are some problems on balsa <-> gtk-2.2 interaction, see

Something has changed between gtk-2.0 and gtk-2.2. I wonder whether 
there are some experts here that could help with debugging. In my case, 
the idle handlers are scheduled but never fired until I switch a 
mailbox to another.
