no compiling without pspell?

Hi,

really nice screenshots you've got :-) , so I wanted to have a look at balsa, 
I downloaded balsa-1.2.1.tar.bz2.

I read about the requirements and installed libesmtp. My problem is about 
pspell:

I don't have pspell installed and I don't want to. I don't need spell checking
in my mail-client, but there is no configure-option like --without-pspell. 
Why? My suggestion for 1.2.2 is such a switch.
