1. Read README (it has been already pointed out)
2. Execute: ./configure --enable-gtkhtml - assuming that you have
gtkhtml installed. You don't need --enable-all for gtkhtml, though.
(Actually, I think we could drop the experimental flag from gtkhtml
support: the support is ok, it is gtkhtml which is still a little
experimental - but I should also say 0.9.2 I use now is very stable)
2. DON'T use '--with-gnome' unless your gnome configuration is placed in
a not standard directory. If this is the case, you need to specify the
location, like --with-gnome=/opt/gnome.
3. balsa is intentionally sensitive to misconfigured systems. This is
why the compilation halts on a warning. if you prefer to try anyway and
ignore the warnings, add --disable-more-warnings option to the
./configure invocation. But don't be suprised if something breaks: You
have been warned.
4. I believe Suse is a rpm-based distribution, so you could try
rpm --rebuild balsa-1.1.4-1.src.rpm
