The missing headers are part of OpenSSL.

Did you get your OpenSSL from the source distro at www.openssl.org or
did you install via RPM?  If you used RPM you might need to install the
-devel version of the package which would have the development headers. 
E.g. if you installed openssl-0.9.6-1.rpm you need to install
openssl-devel-0.9.6-1.rpm or something similar.
