define "does not see the binding".
If the attachment is explicitly marked as application/octet-stream
(check out the content-type header to verify it) balsa accepts that.
Balsa sends PDF files as application/pdf and if it obtains one with such
content type, it properly allows for browsing it, assuming that GNOME
MIME is properly configured (if you don't feel confident with the
structure of ~/.gnome/mime-info/user.keys file, use GNOME control center
instead to amend the content of files in this directory).
