Can't load "aspell" module.

I'm running 1.2.pre1, but I had this problem with 1.1.1 and 1.1.7 as well. 

When I try to spell check my messages, I get a message: 

Unable to load the "aspell" module. 

I'm running redhat 7.1/Ximian and "rpm -qa | grep aspell" yields:

[kurtg@sage XO]$ rpm -qa | grep aspell
aspell-de-0.1.1-7
aspell-0.32.6-2

Oh yeah, I'm a relative newby, but not a complete idiot.  :-)
