BTW, 

Since yesterday the mutt lock gets released periodically whilst downloading
from a POP mailbox (this is to prevent a lockup..)

A side affect is that you can still do other stuff, eg open mailboxes.. it's
not perfect, but it's better than waiting for all of your mail to be
downloaded..
