balsa-1.0.pre2 and Solaris 8

downloaded the balsa-1.0.pre2
untared the package
./configure --disable-flock --enable-fnctl --enable-more-warnings=no

configure part works just fine

make

Making all in C
make: Fatal error in reader: Makefile, line 157: Unexpected end of line
seen

make is failing - it is being compiled on Solaris 8 platform along with
GNOME.

Any ideas?
