compile struggle

iv been struggling to compile balsa 1.0.0.

when try`n to make, i get,
blah, blah, blah,.... then the follow`n:
lglib -lpthread
/usr/bin/ld: cannot open -lltdl: No such file or directory
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[2]: *** [balsa] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory
/home/roachclip/balsa/balsa-1.0.0/src'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory
/home/roachclip/balsa/balsa-1.0.0'
make: *** [all-recursive-am] Error 2
[root@toke-n balsa-1.0.0]#

everything seems fine up untill that point. so i gave up
the source install to see how a binary (rpm) install would
go.  I get the follow`n:

[root@toke-n balsa]# rpm -ivh balsa-1.0.0-1.i386.rpm
error: failed dependencies:
        libltdl.so.0 is needed by balsa-1.0.0-1
        libpspell-modules.so.1 is needed by balsa-1.0.0-1
        libpspell.so.2 is needed by balsa-1.0.0-1
[root@toke-n balsa]#

now, i installed, from source, pspell, ispell, and aspell.
i have "libpspell-modules.so.1" and "libpspell.so.2"
installed in /usr/local/lib/. i couldn`t find the file
"libltdl.so.0".

where can i get the source to this file, and if its part of
a package, where do i get the source to the package? i'd
much rather have a source install than a binary install (who
wouldn`t :-).

im run`n RedHat 6.0 with _several_ upgrades. i rtfm, and
have the follow`n:

                       need    have
        Glib        >= 1.2.1   1.2.8
        GTK         >= 1.2.1   1.2.8
        Imlib       >= 1.9.2   1.9.8.1
        gnome-libs  >= 1.2.1   1.2.4
        libpspell >= 0.11.2 (and at least one spell check
module)
                               i have (all the latest
available for d/l):
                               pspell-ispell 0.10.2
                               aspell 0.32.6
                               pspell 0.11.2

as a matter of fact, i did a helix gnome upgrade a mere
fortnight ago.

i did notice that the compiler reqirements are egcs 2.95,
but not 2.96.  i have egcs 2.91.66 but i can't get the
damned thing compiled to have a segfault.

please help!
