Compiling ldap support

I am on a RH 6.2 box. ./configure --enable-ldap is conking out. I have
openldap 2.0.6 installed.

>From config.log:

configure:5836: gcc -o conftest -g -O2 -I/usr/lib/glib/include
-D_REENTRANT  -I/usr/lib/glib/include -I/u
/usr/local/lib/libldap.so: undefined reference to `res_query'
/usr/local/lib/libldap.so: undefined reference to `dn_expand'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
configure: failed program was:
#line 5825 "configure"
#include "confdefs.h"
/* Override any gcc2 internal prototype to avoid an error. */
/* We use char because int might match the return type of a gcc2
    builtin and then its argument prototype would still apply. */
char ldap_search();

int main() {
ldap_search()
; return 0; }

res_query is in /usr/lib/libresolv.so as is dn_expand.

Any help would be appreciated.
