configureation question

I'm trying to get balsa stop downloading mail that I've deleted locally.
I've tried using balsa as a pop client and checking the "delete from server
box on the configurator menu. No luck. I'd like to leave mail on my server,
but not re-download mail I've already read. Is there a way to accomplish
this?
