hi,
i try to compile balso 1.0 on my debian 2.2. since i have no gtk+ or
gnome stuff installed and the libs on my debian 2.2 cd's are outdated
for balsa 1.0 i downloaded the gnomelibs 1.2.8 from gnome.org. but
i get an error when starting ./configure from the gnomelib package:
checking for inflate in -lz... no
checking for compress in -lz... no
configure: error:
*** Incorrect libz version found. Please make sure you do not have
*** an outdated libz.a or libz.so hiding in your X11 distribution or
*** elsewhere on your system. Versions of libz with the compress and
*** uncompress symbols are sufficiently recent to build GNOME.
the README of this says:
-+--------------------------------------------
*
* Requirements
*
To compile the GNOME libraries, as a minimum you must install:
zlib 1.1.3 ; ls -l /usr/lib/libz.so.*
ls -l /usr/lib/libz.so.* on my system is:
lrwxrwxrwx 13 Dec 17 16:19 /usr/lib/libz.so.1 -> libz.so.1.1.3
-rw-r--r-- 54556 Sep 25 15:19 /usr/lib/libz.so.1.1.3
i don't know why configure is complaining about my libz. do you
have any hints?
