I'm in the middle of fixing up the thread locking in CVS balsa.

It's in a bit of a sorry state at the moment, I wouldn't be surprised if there
were a few gotchas... (It does work - but I wouldn't be surprised if there was
bugs).

I have completed a first pass of making libbalsa do better locking, and am
about 1/2 way through a second pass - I hope to commit something tomorrow
evening.
