configure error

when i run configure on version 0.4.6.2 it tells me it could not find gtk
version >= 1.1.1
i have 
gtk+-devel-1.1.2-2
gtk+10-1.0.6-2
gtk+-1.1.2-2
gtk+-perl-0.2-4
gtk+-1.1.12-1

installed. are these not the same thing? i couldn't find anything without the
plus on any ftp sites i visited.
