Re: Question : lemote 8089D

I suggest you use xdm instead of lightdm.

Have you tried Debian Squeeze version, because it has much more documents.

I have a notebook 8089D http://www.lemote.com/en/products/Notebook/2010/0310/112.html

I read http://wiki.debian.org/DebianYeeloong/HowTo/Install and install debian as follows.

  1. Format the USB disk with ext2 and add the required d-i files
  2. Start with Yeeloong powered off and no USB sticks installed.
  3. Put USB stick in left USB port next to VGA port.
  4. Power on Yeeloong.
  5. Press 'Del' lots.

  6. Should get into PMON> prompt.

  7. Delete any extra characters.
  8. Type:
    • bl -d ide (usb0,0)/boot.cfg
I can use console.

But I cannot use X windows.
When I use lightdm I can input user id and password.
Then only an arrow appears. No menu appears, No icon appears.
How can I solve this problem ?
