Johannes thanks for that.
The snippets-plugin looks good, but now I'm lost in installing it. I
know it's not really a topic for this list but you might know.
All I can find in there of interest for building is Makefile.am. I'm
not familiar with the build process, but I thought I'll need at least
a configure.ac or .in for running aclocal.
Does the build chain for the plugins usually include the installation
into Anjuta too, or is there a mechanism in Anjuta to get a plugin?

Anjuta uses the gtksourceview text editor widget (same as gedit) and as
such has about the same shortcuts. For templates, have a look at the
snippets plugin.
