I have the same system:
- rh9 (glade2 and glade1)!
- anjuta-1.0.2-1.i386.rpm
- anjuta-i18n-1.0.2-1.i386.rpm
- libzvt-2.0.1.tar.gz from http://www.anjuta.org/libzvt
- wxX11-2.4.0.tar.gz from www.wxwindows.org -> Unix/Motif and X11
  ./configure --with-x11
  make
  make install
  ldconfig

I make an programm in anjuta on follow steps:
(translate from German-Menus)
File -> New Project -> [Next]
Gnome based Project -> [Next]
Project name: test88
make here no other changes
[Next]
Enter a short description of the project -> abcdefg -> [Next]
Support Gettext = Off -> [Next]
[Next]
Now create anjuta the project...
[F10]
[F3]
All looks fine and the programm starts.

Perhaps you install more software from "Add/Remove Applications"
