Try to run ldconfig and make sure that LD_LIBRARY_PATH and
/etc/ld.so.conf contain the path to your gnome libs. Another tip here, I
always avoid running make when `su` because the path isn't the same and
some libs are not found. I log in as root in a console to do all the
building.
